- Preheat oven to 450°F.
- Mix the sugar, flour, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg together.
- Peel the apples and pare them thinly.
- Add the spice mixture and mix well. Set aside.
- Make the pie crust. Fill pie.
- Dot with butter.
- Put top layer on and seal it. Brush around the edges with milk.
- Bake at 450°F for 10 minutes. Then lower heat to 350°F and bake for an additional 40 minutes.
